Distribution (Manifold) Box
Distribution boxes or manifold are import junctions in your system, well designed units allow simple options and adjustment.
The Distribution box or manifold is the distribution centre to decentralised systems. Installed in the ceiling, the manifold sends filtered air and returns exhaust to the many ducted arms of the system. This central crossroads for air flow can be a useful site for fine-tuning. Valves allow adjusted airflow in and out from each room and a well-designed unit allows the option for unused ports to be capped.
A good distribution manifold;
- simplifies inlets and outlets on the ventilation unit
- allows multiple inlets and outlets to be connected to a single inlet / outlet on the unit
- allows inlet / outlet air flow adjustment with valves
- is acoustically tuned and insulated to be as quiet as possible.
Not all distribution boxes are made equal, a less than effective distribution manifold;
- overcomplicates or awkwardly positions inlets and outlets
- allows only single inlet and outlet connection
- is without inlet / outlet air flow adjustment valves
- is not acoustically engineered, is noisy and uninsulated (in a bad ventilation system ventilation noise / sound can be so bad as to be un-useable).
