Ventilation for Apartments

TLDR

From initial design multi-residentials — ground floor to penthouse — to retrofit and standalone single apartment use, ventilation results in, fresh air, savings and health benefits.

With apartments the big consideration is always space. Like with every dwelling though we have to consider temperature, carbon dioxide levels, allergies, mould, moisture and condensation — making air filtration a must. A decentralised ventilation solution is often recommended to engage with these aspects of apartments, which can be wall or ceiling mounted — depending on the roof or void space — and can use exposed ducting to reach into the space, going for an industrial look.

When designing or retrofitting an entire multi-residential apartment complex, a larger centralised solution is often recommended. Alternatively, or as well, a standalone decentralised unit may be recommended for larger or premium penthouse spaces of the dwelling.

A retrofitted mechanical ventilation system is a fantastic solution for any ageing apartment complex dealing with condensation on windows, stale stuffy air, or major problems such as mould or even road pollution. Upgrading ventilation and heat capture systems can help tenants and body corporate to significant savings on energy consumption and general health.

For single apartments a decentralised filter unit can be a wonderful upgrade, particularly in this climate challenging time of bushfires and more general small particle pollution. Depending on your build (airtight and or energy conscious), body corporate or personal taste, ventilation can be an excellent health investment in an apartment. From the ground floor to the penthouse, ventilation, energy savings and fresh air on every level. Goodbye sick building syndrome and goodbye stale air.
